GMB fans 'switch to BBC' after 'car crash' interview with Paddington star Hugh Bonnevile

Good Morning Britain viewers have vowed to "switch to BBC" after a "car crash" interview with Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville.

The discussion with the Paddington actor took place on Thursday's programme (October 31), with Hugh attending via video link from London's iconic Shard building. Fans were hoping that the chat would warm-up but were still not enamoured after Kate chimed in declaring she was "related to the legendary bear".

Things got worse as a clip was aired of Kate discovering her heritage and link to Paddington's creator Michael Bond - which awkwardly didn't exactly land a huge response from the actor himself.

Errors were also made, as Kate chimed in asking Hugh about the late Maggie Smith, who worked with him on Downton Abbey but instead asked him about her role on Paddington and not the period drama.

Hugh corrected: "I don't think she was in the Paddington film, she certainly was in Downton." Looking a little flushed, Kate added: "Sorry, you're right, it was Downton."

Making light of the situation Hugh joked: "I'm sure she would look very good in a bear outfit, I am sure." As he went on to speak about her "final scenes" in the second Downton Abbey movie.

Fans also called out Ed's odd questioning throughout the chat, with one person calling out on X - formerly known as : "Ed balls asking if paddington took his own supply of marmalade to peru stupid t***** #."

On the same platform, others branded the interview as a total "shambles" while airing that they would be permanently switching to an rival channel: "This shambles only goes to persuade me that I’m transferring my allegiance to #BBCBreakfast …#gmb."

Another person shared the very same sentiment, adding: "#GMB Kate: I'm officially related to Paddington Bear. Me: Switch off TV." Further outrage was aired as others chimed in about Kate's interview skills

They wrote: "FFS Kate! Think before you speak! #GMB," and " f***ing up again. #GMB." While two other internet goers had other things to say: "What a car crash #GMB," and "This Paddington segment is going on and on #GMB."

Hugh appeared on the daytime favourite to promote his upcoming movie Paddington In Peru - which is out in cinemas across the UK from November 8 - where he plays the role of Henry Brown.

It is the third sequel of the popular franchise, with Hugh reprising his role. In this film, Paddington and his adopted family, the Browns, decide to visit his aunt Lucy in Peru, but circumstances lead them towards misadventures in the Amazon rainforest and mountains of Peru.
