So the Dutchman wants more from his team as continues to apply the pressure. The Brit lost ground to in the title race in Austin last weekend and is 57 points behind.

But are strong and Verstappen knows it is still more than possible that his title rival may run him close by the end of the year. With that worry in mind, the triple F1 champion is hoping to see further progress still at this weekend's .

He said: "Mexico is always a great race and, of course, it is 's home race so is always an incredible atmosphere. The track is at such a high altitude, which you do need to adjust to a bit more, but we have historically done well here and I have always enjoyed driving at this track.

"We made some good steps in Austin and saw some promising improvements with the car, but it was not quite enough for the race. The team are working hard to iron out these issues, but ultimately it was a step forward in the right direction and to win the Sprint was a boost for the team.

"We are heading into the second race of the triple header so it will be about keeping this momentum heading forwards and continuing to gain crucial points in the championship."

In contrast, Norris has two Grand Prix wins from the last five and has been scoring well on a consistent basis. Ahead of this weekend's action in Mexico City, Norris said: "I really enjoy coming to Mexico. The fans are passionate, and the vibe is always fun. It is an interesting challenge for us as drivers with the high altitude, it is something we train for throughout the year and these added challenges are always what makes it even more fun.

"Just missing out on the podium in Austin was a tricky one, but I look forward to going again this weekend in Mexico. We will once again be giving it our all and aiming to finish strongly."
