Most streamed scary movie of Halloween 2024 has perfect Rotten Tomato score

A 'delightfully dark' film seems to have won the horror race after it bagged a near-perfect score.

Late Night With The Devil, which hit cinemas in 2023, has been earning rave reviews as fans realise it's available for home streaming. So much so that the film-rating website gave it a whopping 97% on the Tomatometer after being dubbed 'wild and freaky' online.

"Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated talk show 'Night Owls' that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country," the site's synopsis reads. "However, ratings for the show have plummeted since the tragic death of Jack's beloved wife.

"Desperate to turn his fortunes around, on October 31st, 1977, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other--unaware he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America." The movie is interspersed with black and white snippets showing behind-the-scenes interactions between host Jack, his producers, and guests.

However, one such guest is a young girl supposedly possessed by an otherworldly spirit. Fans can even stream the film for free by taking advantage of a 7-day free trial on the horror-specialist platform Shudder, which is available as an add-on subscription via Amazon Prime video.

Pushing Late Night with the Devil close was Oddity. With a 96 rating, the 'elegant and spooky ghost story' written and directed by Damian McCarthy follows a blind medium and shopkeeper who is still grieving the death of her twin sister - and it left fans gripped.

The review read: "When Dani is brutally murdered at the remote country house that she and her husband Ted are renovating, everyone suspects a patient from the local mental health institution, where Ted is a doctor. However, soon after the tragic killing, the suspect is found dead.

"A year later, Dani's blind twin sister Darcy, a self-proclaimed psychic and collector of cursed items, pays an unexpected visit to Ted and his new girlfriend, Yana. Convinced that there was more to her sister's murder than people know, Darcy has brought with her the most dangerous items from her cursed collection to help her exact revenge."

Late Night With The Devil wowed fans, and one reviewed the movie online. They enthused: "Inventive, original film set during the 1970's when America was dabbling with the occult, Late Night With The Devil as a metaphor for the price of fame, and a genuine horror movie.

"While there aren't that many jump scares, the build up to all hell breaking loose was masterfully executed. It's part Paddy Chayefsky's Network meets The Original Exorcist. Satirical and scary at the same time. It's destined to be a cult classic."
