Premier League make huge referee decision after Liverpool vs Chelsea VAR drama

Premier League referee John Brooks has been assigned another Merseyside match following his central role in a VAR-heavy 2-1 victory for Liverpool over Chelsea on Sunday. The official, who is now set to oversee Everton's home game against Fulham, was at the heart of several key decisions at Anfield.

Notably, Brooks chose not to send off Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo early in the match - He also reversed a penalty awarded to Arne Slot's side.

However, Now, he's been tasked with managing Sean Dyche's Toffees as they host Fulham at 5:30pm on Saturday.

The Reds now turn their attention to a Premier League clash with Arsenal, following a midweek Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig. For the upcoming match at the Emirates Stadium, it has been confirmed that senior PGMOL referee Anthony Taylor will be in charge, with Sam Barrott as the fourth official and Michael Salisbury and Darren Cann handling VAR duties.

Chelsea face Panathinaikos in Greece on Thursday before hosting Newcastle in the first of two matches against Eddie Howe's side in the space of three days. The refereeing team for that match has now been confirmed.

Simon Hooper will take charge of the game, whilst Rob Jones - referee for Arsenal's defeat to Bournemouth, and the man who sent off William Saliba after initially only giving a yellow card - is fourth official. Jarred Gillet will be on VAR with Ian Hussin as assistant. Gillett was on VAR with Jones for the Arsenal match on Saturday, suggesting an on-field review of the Saliba incident.
