had thought they had an equaliser through in the second half, but the goal was eventually ruled out for offside following a VAR check.
As a result, the strike from Ousmane Dembele in the fourth minute was the only goal in the first leg in north London.
Rooney was asked for his verdict on Arsenal's performance and was critical with his analysis, as well as explaining what he didn't like about the atmosphere from the home fans inside the Emirates Stadium.
"I think they [PSG] were by far the better team," Rooney told Amazon Prime. "I think tactically, they were excellent.
"Organisation, how they pressed. [It was] an organised press on Arsenal's goal kicks, and then went into a low block and let Arsenal have possession to try and hurt them on the break, and could have won the game by two or three [goals].
"So, I think they [PSG] got it spot on.
"For Arsenal, I was a bit disappointed with how they played. Disappointed with the fans as well. I think the fans against Real Madrid were excellent and really pushed the team.
"I thought tonight they were a bit subdued and almost like an anti-climax that Arsenal beat Real Madrid and are going to walk into the final and win the competition. The fans had to be there for them tonight.
"Players have to show up, of course, but I think, on both sides, it wasn't good enough for Arsenal."
