Kim Soo Hyun's representative speaks out against legal fee rumours

Actor Kim Soo Hyun was recently reported to have failed to pay the necessary legal fees for the lawsuit he filed against Kim Sae Ron‘s family and Garo Sero Research Institute. He was expected to pay approximately 38,000,000 KRW (USD 26,716.51) to the court.

It was also claimed that he requested to postpone the deadline amid his alleged financial struggles. Following the extensive media coverage and speculations, a spokesperson of the actor has now shared a statement.

On April 17, 2025, his legal representative denied the allegations. In a statement to YTN Star, his legal representative from LKB & Partners claimed that the full amount for litigation was paid. They admitted that the request for an extension was true but claimed that it was made simply because they needed to correct the defendant’s address on legal documents.

Amid the growing wave of online harassment and speculation, Kim Soo Hyun’s team has also issued a warning that they are preparing to take legal action against cyberbullies and malicious commenters spreading false information.

On April 16, Kim Soo Hyun's agency announced that they’re taking legal action against those spreading “malicious posts, false facts, and personal attacks” online.

A complaint has already been filed under the Information and Communications Network Act as of April 14, following both fan reports and internal monitoring.

Gold Medalist emphasised they’ll be pursuing further legal action, not just within Korea but also against overseas platforms like YouTube and X, targeting so-called “cyber wreckers” behind fake news and harmful content.

“Malicious slander, false information, personal attacks, and sexual harassment are rampant on online community boards and social media and should not be taken lightly. We filed a complaint to the authorities on April 14 for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act based on fan reports and our monitoring," the statement added.

Despite the ongoing drama, Kim Soo Hyun’s fans have continued to stand by him. Recently, his global fans launched a petition to protect him from an 'online public trial.'

“We express grave concern over the reality where unverified rumours are causing terminated ad deals, privacy violations, malicious comments, and social sanctions. Even if mistakes were made, the widespread circulation of baseless accusations and defamatory videos constitutes a modern-day online public trial, violating the presumption of innocence."
