"Country wanted this for a long time": Pushkar Singh Dhami on passing of Waqf Bill in Parliament

Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], April 4 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke on the passing of Waqf Amendment Bill in both the houses of Parliament and stated that country had wanted this for a long time.
Dhami stated that the land that belonged to Panchayats used to get included in Waqf, however, now the land will come in one criterion due to which a lot of work can be done. The Uttarakhand CM added that there have been several such cases in Uttarakhand as well under which will get probed and will be taking forward the works of public welfare.
"The country had wanted this for a long time. The encroachment on these pieces of land and all the land which belonged to Panchayats and other departments, used to be included in Waqf. Now, all that land will come out of that criteria and a lot of work can be done. Even in Uttarakhand, there are several such cases...we will get it probed and take forward the works of public welfare...Opposition always does the politics of appeasement. Under the leadership of PM Modi, new laws are being brought...and historic decisions are being made...", Pushkar Singh Dhami said while speaking to reporters on Friday.
Earlier, Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Chaitra Ashtami Fair-2025 at Maa Agneri Temple in Almora on Friday.


While addressing the gathering, CM Dhami stated that the fair is not only limited to religious rituals, but it also preserves folk art, culture and traditions. He added that a lot of people get a chance to showcase their talent through this platform.
