Akasa Air to launch direct flights from India to Thailand starting September 20

Akasa Air will begin daily direct flights between Mumbai and Phuket, Thailand, from September 20, 2025, marking the airline’s entry into Southeast Asia. In its official statement, the airline said this will be its sixth international destination, with bookings now open through its website, mobile apps, and major online travel agencies.

The airline said Phuket’s popularity among Indian travellers and its role as a trade and tourism hub make it a strategic addition to its network. The new service offers both morning and evening departures from India, providing greater travel flexibility.

“We are thrilled to foray into Southeast Asia with the addition of Phuket to our global network. India is entering a new era of outbound tourism powered by its large population of globally curious flyers. With conveniently timed daily direct flights connecting Mumbai with Phuket, we are not only catering to the aspirations of modern Indian travellers but also strengthening the cultural and economic bridges between India and Thailand,” said Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of the airline.

The airline said it plans to continue expanding on key international routes while maintaining a focus on affordable connectivity for Indian travellers.

Akasa Air’s network covers 23 domestic destinations and six international cities. Its overseas destinations are Doha in Qatar; Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia; Abu Dhabi in the UAE; Kuwait City in Kuwait; and Phuket in Thailand.
