'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' singer Sharda Sinha admitted to ICU weeks after husband's death

Sharda Sinha has been hospitalized in New Delhi. The Padma Bhushan awardee, celebrated for her folk music and occasional contributions to Bollywood soundtracks, is currently in the ICU at AIIMS, where her condition is reported to be critical. She has been receiving care there for the past week. News of her health struggles comes just weeks after the passing of her husband, Brajkishore Sinha.

According to Navbharat Times, Sharda Sinha was moved to the ICU after her health took a turn for the worse on Saturday morning. Reports suggest that the singer has been struggling to eat and drink in recent days, though the hospital has yet to officially address these rumors. Supporters and admirers are rallying in hope of her recovery, with special prayers being held.

News18 Hindi reports that Mahamrityunjay Jaap and other worship rituals are being performed for her health. In Gopalganj, a place close to Sinha’s heart, devotees are gathering at Mahadev Temple and Thawe Maa Bhavani’s court to offer prayers, with local priests and scholars also joining in her well-being wishes. Fans are flooding social media with prayers for her health. Tragically, her husband, Braj Kishore, passed away in September at the age of 80 following a brain hemorrhage. The couple had been married for 54 years.

Who Is Sharda Sinha?

Sharda Sinha is a celebrated folk and classical singer originating from Bihar, renowned for her performances in Maithili and Bhojpuri music. Among her most loved songs are Vivaah Geet and Chhath Geet. Honoring her contributions to music, she was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2018.

In addition to her folk music legacy, Sinha has lent her distinct voice to Bollywood, singing memorable songs such as Kahe Toh Se Sajna from Maine Pyar Kiya and contributing to the soundtracks of Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Gangs of Wasseypur, among others. Over her career, she has recorded more than 60 Chhath songs across nine albums, released by major labels like HMV, Tips, and T-Series.
