Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday evening upped the excitement around IPL 2025 retentions as the five-time champion posted a cryptic message on social media for their probable top picks.
CSK's post read: "The Ones You Seek is Seeking You!" accompanied by emojis like a helicopter, sword, star, and rocket, which quickly went viral.
Social media analysts and fans interpreted the symbols as possible hints about CSKโs retention choices.
Predictions leant towards a lineup featuring allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, pacer Matheesha Pathirana, former captain MS Dhoni, and kiwi allrounder Rachin Ravindra.
Meanwhile, a fan pointed out that there was nothing to be excited about and that the post was a copy from three years ago.
Former captain MS Dhoni, who has indicated he plans to continue in the IPL, has the full support of CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan. Notably, the World Cup winning captain can be ratained at Rs 4 crore as an uncapped player.
Finalising the retention list will involve Dhoni meeting with franchise owner N. Srinivasan.
At a recent event, Dhoni reflected on savoring his remaining years in the sport.
โI just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play," he said.
"When you play cricket as a profession, itโs hard to enjoy it just like a game. Thatโs my aim now. The emotions and commitments are intense, but I want to find joy in the game for the next few years. I need to stay fit for nine months to play those two and a half months of IPL, so I have to plan and still chill a bit,โ Dhoni said.
