A road dispute in Bengaluru turned ugly on Saturday when a woman hit an auto-rickshaw driver with her slipper in broad daylight. The shocking moment was captured on video and quickly went viral.
The incident took place around 3 pm outside Centro Mall in Bellandur. Reports revealed that Pankhuri Mishra, 28, a woman from Bihar currently living in Bengaluru, was riding a two-wheeler with her husband when they allegedly brushed against an auto-rickshaw while changing lanes.
The auto driver, Lokesh, 33, began filming the situation on his phone. In the video, Mishra is seen angrily removing her slipper and hitting him multiple times. Despite being attacked, Lokesh remained calm and kept recording.
FIR filed by auto driver
According to media reports, Lokesh later went to the police and filed a complaint, accusing Mishra of assaulting him without any reason. Based on his complaint, Bellandur police registered an FIR against Mishra.
She appeared before the police on Sunday and claimed that the driver had behaved inappropriately, which made her react the way she did. The police said her statement has been recorded, and she may be called again as investigations continue.
Mishra says sorry
In a surprising turn, Pankhuri Mishra issued a public apology on Sunday evening. In another video that surfaced online, she is seen falling at Lokesh’s feet and saying she was scared because she is pregnant. She explained that when the auto came close to their vehicle, she panicked.
She added, “I love this city and its people,” referring to Bengaluru.
Public reaction
The video caused a stir online and also drew attention from pro-Kannada groups. Protesters gathered outside Bellandur police station demanding strict action against Mishra.
