Fame doesn’t come without a price. Actor Emraan Hashmi, who was known by the moniker ‘ serial kisser’ as a lot of his films had some intimate scenes, once acknowledged that the tag helped him cultivate a loyal fanbase but also created some discontent at home.
In an old interview with Rediff, the ‘ Murder 2’ star said that although initially he was hesitant about the tag, he eventually made his peace with the nickname. He recalled once watching his movie ‘ Tum Mile’ at the theatre on incognito mode, when he heard one of the audience express disappointment that he didn’t kiss his leading lady.
“I’ve realised that the serial kisser tag has become synonymous with me, and I’m not going to fight it,” he explained.
He added that “It’s become like Salman Khan not taking his shirt off in his film.."
He concluded that every actor’s films have some signature elements that their fans adore, and actors repeat these stunts to cater to their audience. When asked how his family members deal with his on-screen image, he explained that while his wife and father are not happy with the moniker, they understand that in his profession, some things are inevitable.
“They understand that it puts food on the table. My wife and my father have problems with me getting intimate every time, but they know that these are the choices I made for longevity’s sake. They might not like it, but they understand it,” he said.
Hashmi was last seen in the 2024 action thriller ‘ Tiger 3’ along with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
