According to a report by Hauterrfly, Ssunita filed for divorce on December 5, 2024, at the Bandra Family Court, citing serious issues in their nearly four-decade-long marriage. This report has once again started discussions around their relationship, which has often been under media scrutiny. Recalling her early love for Govinda, she says, "When I met Govinda, I prayed that I get married to him and that my life goes well." She then issues a warning to those who she believes tried to damage her marriage:
“Koi bhi mera ghar todne ki koshish kare… Maa Kali sabke gale kaat degi. Ek acche insaan ko, acchi aurat ko dukh dena acchi baat nahi hai.” (Whoever tries to break my home… Maa Kali will punish them. It's not right to hurt a good person, a good woman.)
Ssunita also opened up about how difficult the past year has been, stating that people have said “hurtful and baseless things” about her and her family. She humorously calls herself the “internet queen” and says she doesn’t need paparazzi to stay relevant.
