Neelkantheshwar Temple is dedicated to Mahadev and is counted among the big temples of Mahakal. There is a belief about this temple that when the doors of the temple open in the morning, a flower is found on the Shivling.
Finding a flower on the Shivling remains a mystery to date. But the local people believe that Bundelkhand's commanders Alha and Udal were great devotees of Mahakal. That is why they come here every night and leave flowers. At the same time, going to Neelkantheshwar Temple at night is completely prohibited.

Apart from this, it is also said that this grand temple of Lord Bholenath was built overnight by a single person. During this time, it is seen on the walls of Neelkantheshwar Temple that the idols of God are broken which have been badly damaged. It is believed that the Mughals might have tampered with all these during the invasion.
