Mumbai: A 20-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute in the Chembur Camp area late on Monday night. The Chembur Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the murder.
According to the FIR, the deceased has been identified as Mohammad Farid Alim Shaikh, a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Mumbai. The complaint was lodged by his elder brother, Mohammad Armaan Alim Shaikh (28), an autorickshaw driver residing in Mohammad Rafiq Nagar, Govandi.
The incident occurred around 1:30 AM on April 15 near Lal Mitti Garden in Chembur Camp. Police said the accused, identified as Vaibhav Pandurang Bhingardive (21), who resides in Indira Nagar near Hanuman Mandir Lane, allegedly stabbed Farid following a heated argument.
“The deceased and the accused were known to each other. During the altercation, Farid reportedly hit Vaibhav on the head with a bottle. In a fit of rage, Vaibhav allegedly stabbed Farid with a knife with the intention to kill him,” said a police official.
The FIR was registered at 8:25 PM on April 15 under Section 103(1) of the BNS. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway, police confirmed.
