In the 124th episode of his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spotlighted Uttar Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage, focusing on the historical significance of its forts and rivers. At the heart of his remarks was Kalinjar Fort in Banda district, which he described as a “living embodiment of India’s values, culture, and self-respect.”
Calling Kalinjar Fort a symbol of resilience, the Prime Minister recalled its legendary stand against Mahmud Ghaznavi and emphasized its role in India's history. He also mentioned other Bundelkhand region forts such as Jhansi, Gwalior, Datia, Ajaygarh, and Garhkundar, urging citizens to visit and celebrate the country’s historical legacy.
The PM's praise extended to environmental efforts as well. He lauded Lucknow’s Gomti Nadi Swachhata Team, a volunteer group that has been cleaning the Gomti River every Sunday for ten years. “Their unwavering commitment is truly inspiring,” he said.
Myanmar Enters Third Year Under Military Coup As Crisis Deepens Crisis Amid Civil WarThese acknowledgments come amid a broader campaign by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration to restore Uttar Pradesh’s heritage. The state’s Tourism Department is actively working to conserve and promote major forts like Kalinjar, transforming them into tourism hubs. Simultaneously, a statewide river rejuvenation drive is in progress, involving the revival of small rivers and large-scale plantation along their banks.
The Prime Minister’s remarks not only drew national attention to UP’s cultural landmarks but also aligned with the Yogi government's efforts to link tourism, history, and conservation. With the 2027 Assembly polls approaching, such recognition of local heritage is also seen as a strategic nod to the region’s identity and pride.
