What was meant to be a solemn celebration of the Constitution turned into a light-hearted showcase of Samajwadi Party’s "enthusiastic internal democracy." At the SP’s Constitution Day event in Aligarh, eager party workers jostled quite literally for a spot on the stage, resulting in some torn shirts, bruised egos, and a 30-minute spectacle.
The scuffle began over who deserved to be closer to former Union Minister Salim Sherwani. As is tradition in big political families, a few heated words were exchanged, followed by some “expressive body language.” Police looked on, puzzled, as SP leaders united in spirit but divided by seat space temporarily descended into a display of passion. Former city president Ajju Ishaq, ex-MLA Veeresh Yadav, and district secretary Manoj Yadav took center-stage, unintentionally creating an impromptu reality show.

He wasn’t wrong. If anything, the chaos signaled the party’s energy ahead of upcoming elections.
Despite the elbows and expletives, the message was clear: SP is loud, proud, and ready to rumble on the ballot, not just the stage.
