Former England footballer Wayne Rooney has reportedly signed a deal worth a whopping amount of £800,000 to become a pundit on Match of the Day beginning next season. With Gary Linekar departing as the BBC's premier programme show's host, Rooney is all set to replace him in the role.

The 39-year-old was notably dismissed as Plymouth manager on New Year's Eve and has been in discussions to get involved as a pundit for both BBC and Sky Sports.

Reports claim that the contract extends for two years and will feature in the World Cup as a pundit alongside Alan Shearer, Jurgen Klinsmann, Rio Ferdinand and Joe Hart.

As far as the Englishman's career as a manager goes, he has managed teams like Derby, DC United, Birmingham and Plymouth.
