Short video platform Seekho has raised $28 Mn (around INR 250 Cr) in its Series B funding round. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners along with participation from Goodwater Capital and existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Elevation Capital.
The skilling-focussed platform plans to utilise the fresh capital to introduce new content formats and build its AI tech stack.
Founded in 2020 by Choudhary, Keertay Agarwal and Yash Banwani, Seekho provides bite-sized educational videos that help individuals in upskilling, professional growth and self growth. It offers a wide range of short learning videos across various categories including technology, finance, social media, among others.
The startup had raised $11.5 Mn prior to this funding round from investors like LetsVenture, Trica, Super Morpheus, Yuj Ventures, Peak XV and the family office of the JM Financial Group.
Seekho claims to have 2.5 Cr monthly active visitors, growing at 60% quarter-over-quarter. It charges users INR 199 per month for an ad-free subscription. The Seekho platform has more than 10 Cr downloads in Google Play Store.
The startup has hinged its growth on the growing number of smartphone users in India which is expected to grow to 1.5 Bn by 2030 and the introduction of autopay feature in the UPI interface has opened doors to 800 Mn Indian smartphone users to the subscription economy.
Amid this growing digital content consumption in the country, Seekho faces social media giants like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. For these platforms, India has traditionally been home to one of their largest user bases, with an active userbase of 462 Mn and 392.5 Mn in 2024, respectively in the country.
Despite the intense competition, Seekho has managed to grow its top line exponentially in recent times. In the fiscal year FY24, its operating revenue grew 475% to INR 11.5 Cr from INR 2 Cr in the previous fiscal year. However, its net loss also surged 91.6% to INR 4.6 Cr in FY24 from INR 2.4 Cr in previous year.
