Many researches have revealed that eating too many momos can lead to many serious diseases, which can cause great harm to your health.

The outer layer of momos is made from maida, which is the starch left after removing protein and fiber from wheat. Maida is not easily digested and can stick to the intestines, causing problems like constipation, gas, and bloating.

The spicy red chutney served with momos is made from poor quality chillies. This chutney increases the risk of piles and gastritis. Eating too much of this chutney can cause irritation, swelling and bleeding in the stomach and intestines.

The refined flour used in momos has a high glycemic index, which increases blood sugar rapidly. The starch present in the refined flour and the monosodium glutamate (MSG) added to momos can cause obesity.

It was found that Delhi's street foods, especially momos, have high levels of coliform bacteria, which trigger diarrhea and other digestive diseases.

The combination of refined flour, MSG, and spicy chutney present in momos can be harmful for heart health. The starch and MSG present in refined flour increase the level of cholesterol and triglyceride, which causes plaque accumulation in the blood arteries. This increases the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.

Many researches have also shown the risk of cancer due to excessive consumption of momos. Actually, the MSG used in momos and the chemicals such as azodicarbonamide and benzoyl peroxide used to make the flour soft and white can increase the risk of cancer.
