West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a big announcement in view of the alleged harassment of Bengali labourers in the state. The CM has urged about 22 lakh Bengali migrants in different states to return to their states. Along with this, she has also promised that every migrant will be given Rs 5000 every month under the Shramoshri scheme.

Amid the discussion about SIR in West Bengal, the state's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a big announcement. The CM said that in the states where there is a double engine government, Bengali-speaking people are being harassed. Their number is around 22 lakhs. We have requested all these people to come to their state Bengal. The Shramoshri scheme will be started to help those who are returning or will come after the harassment and under it, they will be given financial benefits.
Mamata Banerjee announced that we will give Rs 5000 free travel allowance every month for one year under the Shramoshri scheme. This money will be given by ITI and Labor Department. These migrant laborers will also be given job cards. After this, they will also be given separate jobs. This scheme will be only for those people who are Bengali migrant laborers and are working in other states.
CM told how many people have returned to their states so far?
He said that after Bengali persecution in various states, 2870 families, more than 10 thousand workers have already returned to the state. They can contact the Pravasi Mazdoor Kalyan Sangh. This has been passed in the cabinet. The cabinet has approved the new tender for Tajpur port.
The question of attending the PM's rally was avoidedThere is a buzz that in protest against the harassment of migrant Bengali labourers, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not attend PM Modi's program in Bengal on August 22. However, when she was questioned about this today, she did not give any answer and avoided the question.
Actually, there are assembly elections in West Bengal next year i.e. in 2026. In such a situation, Mamata Banerjee has started setting the electoral equations from now on. She has also openly opposed the SIR conducted by the Election Commission in Bihar. She said that West Bengal is not ready for SIR yet. Along with this, she has also raised questions on this entire process. However, no announcement has been made yet about when the process of SIR will start in Bengal.
