Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the past four days, Pakistani forces attempted a major attack near the national capital on Saturday. According to defense sources, the Indian military intercepted and neutralized a missile launched by Pakistan just 300 kilometers from Delhi, near Sirsa in Haryana. This swift action by Indian defense forces averted a potential tragedy.
In a strong countermeasure, India also destroyed a Pakistani fighter jet, sending a clear message in response to the continued hostilities.
Multiple Attacks, One Goal: Target DelhiReports suggest that the intercepted missile was likely aimed at New Delhi, highlighting Pakistan’s intention to strike key Indian targets. “Pakistan is trying to destabilize the region by targeting strategic and religious sites,” a senior defense official said.
The Indian Air Defense System once again proved effective, intercepting threats in real time and preventing damage in sensitive areas, including the capital region.
Widespread Drone and Missile Attacks FoiledIn addition to the attempted missile strike near Delhi, Pakistani drones and missiles targeted 26 locations across Jammu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Some of the key incidents include:
- A UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) was shot down in Majra, Himachal Pradesh, near the Pathankot Airbase.
- A missile fell near the gate of the Aap Shambhu Temple in Jammu, causing no damage to the holy site.
- A drone attack in Amritsar, Punjab, was successfully intercepted.
- The Avantipora Air Force Station in Jammu also faced an attempted drone strike, which was neutralized before impact.
The civilian areas of Jammu were also targeted, with a few individuals injured in drone attacks in Punjab. The injured were quickly hospitalized and are now reported to be stable.
Air Raid Alerts in Northern CitiesIn the wake of Pakistan's widespread offensive, air raid warnings were issued in Chandigarh and Ambala, indicating the high alert status across northern India. The Indian Armed Forces remain on full alert, closely monitoring the Line of Control (LoC) and all strategic locations.
Why Pakistan Is Escalating TensionsSecurity analysts believe Pakistan is retaliating after suffering heavy losses in India's Operation Sindoor, a recent cross-border military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure. Pakistan’s current aggression is seen as a desperate attempt to respond.
However, Indian officials emphasize that the nation is fully prepared and will respond firmly to every provocation.
