UPI Transaction New Rules: Many new rules are going to be implemented from August 1, 2025, for users using UPI platforms like Paytm, PhonePe, GPay, which will reduce unnecessary load on the network.

UPI Transaction New Rules: New UPI rules will come into effect from August 1, 2025. If you regularly use Paytm, PhonePe, GPay or any other UPI platform, then it is very important for you to know what is going to change from next month. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which oversees the UPI ecosystem, is going to impose some new limits to reduce the pressure on the system as well as reduce problems like payment delays and failed transactions. Due to this, limits will be imposed on things like checking balance and refreshing status.
Limit set for checking balanceFrom next month, UPI users will be able to check their account balance only 50 times a day. Similarly, users will be able to check the bank account linked to their phone number on the UPI app only 25 times a day. These new limits are being set to reduce unnecessary traffic so that the system does not slow down during heavy use during the day and there is no problem in transactions. If the unnecessary load on the network is reduced, the system will also work faster and more securely.
Time slot for auto pay transactions too
Apart from this, NPCI is also introducing fixed time slots for UPI Auto Pay transactions. This means that pre-scheduled payments like auto payments, subscriptions, utility bills and EMIs will be processed in a fixed time slot, not even during the day. Now AutoPay transactions will be processed only in three fixed time slots - before 10 am, between 1 pm to 5 pm and after 9:30 pm. Apart from these, no changes have been made in the transaction limits. These will remain the same as before.
