Emmerdale's Dawn 'didn't really push Joe' as real culprit 'rumbled'

Send Push

Dawn Taylor made quite the confession on on Monday night as she admitted to a deadly crime.

In the closing moments of the latest visit to the soap, she told husband Billy Fletcher she was the mystery culprit who shoved her fling Joe Tate out of a window. Joe remains in hospital in a bad way after falling from an upstairs window, with multiple villagers left suspects.

Said suspects were grilled over the crime on Monday, and poor Billy was dragged in for questioning by the police. After Dawn's decision to offer her ex an alibi, Billy was curious over why she would want to help him.

Dawn made it clear she knew Billy was not to blame, leaving him sure she must know who really did it. He asked her if it was their adopted daughter Clemmie, who also happened to be a suspect.

Dawn protested and urged him to drop the idea, before eventually confirming it was her that did it. She told Billy she pushed Joe, and no one else was to blame leaving him reeling.

But viewers think she could be lying, and might be covering for the real guilty party. While the soap has confirmed it is in fact Dawn who pushed Joe, viewers think she is actually "a red herring" and that someone else will soon be identified as the pusher, or perhaps no one actually did it.

One theory is that Joe fell out the window after drinking the drink spiked by Charity Dingle, while other fans think it was Clemmie after all that pushed Joe after their previous run-in. Taking to social media, one fan posted: "No, I think Dawn's a red herring, and I also think it'd be too soon for a whodunit this highly marketed to be solved."

Another fan suggested on the "real culprit": "I think she may be taking the blame for Clemmie tbh," as a third fan agreed: "It definitely wasn't Dawn."

A further comment read: "Nah I think she believes it was Clemmie so she’s covering for her but it wasn’t either of them."

The Clemmie theory was shared more and more with another post reading: "I think it was Clemmie. Billy is going to turn himself in or something to protect her and Dawn to fake continuing her relationship with Joe or leverage her connection with Kim to protect her."

Another fan posted: "I think it's too soon to expose the culprit in a whodunit storyline. Which means Dawn is covering for someone, and who would she cover for other than Clemmie?"

Another fan guessed it was neither Dawn or Clemmie. They suggested: "I think she takes the blame because she thinks Clemmie has done it. Personally I still think noone did it and he just tripped and fell."
