Cinnabon, the US bakery chain that made its British debut in 2020, has decided to shut down all 12 of its UK outlets.
The brand, known for its cinnamon rolls, had expanded across London, Manchester, and Birmingham - boasting up to 20 stores at one point. However, this week, EG On the Move, the operator behind Cinnabon's UK venture, confirmed the complete withdrawal from the UK high street.
In a released statement, the company explained: "EG On the Move has made the strategic decision to close all Cinnabon locations operated in the UK." They elaborated on the closure, stating: "This was not a decision taken lightly, but it reflects the strategic shift to focus on our core convenience retail business."

Further justifying the move, they added: "This decision aligns with our wider business strategy to focus on areas where we can deliver the greatest value to our customers." Initially, Cinnabon had grand plans for the UK market, aiming to establish 150 stores nationwide, reports Birmingham Live.
Yet, over time, the number of shops has been in decline, leading to a gradual disappearance from the British landscape. The last of the closures seemed abrupt to many, with patrons greeted by simple handwritten notes on the doors, indicating the immediate shutdown of the cafés from September 1.
