Christina Ricci played a pivotal role in the first season of Wednesday, but will she be back for the second series?
The darkly comedic Netflix sensation has been absent from the streaming platform for the past three years, but has now finally made a comeback with Wednesday Addams (portrayed by Jenna Ortega) returning to Nevermore Academy.

In the debut series, Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci took on the role of botany teacher Marilyn Thornhill, who also served as the dorm mother for Wednesday and Enid Sinclair (played by Emma Myers).
However, much to everyone's surprise, Marilyn was not as she appeared, revealing herself to be Laurel Gates, a descendant of the nefarious Joseph Crackstone who despised outcasts.
She was also revealed to be the master of Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), as it was shockingly disclosed that he was The Hyde.

After the dramatic conclusion of the first series, Marilyn was jailed for her crimes and was conspicuously absent when the second series kicked off.
Wednesday had shifted her attention away from Marilyn and Tyler, focusing instead on her latest investigation into a vision predicting Enid's death, much to her chagrin.
However, she soon found herself at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital where Tyler was being treated by Dr Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton), who was keen to rehabilitate him.
It was in the third episode, Call of the Woe, that Dr Fairburn called for additional assistance, bringing in Christina Ricci's character, Laurel Gates.
Laurel was under the impression that she could regain control over Tyler, believing herself to be the monster's master. However, it became apparent that he harboured a significant amount of resentment towards her.
When they eventually confronted each other, he morphed into Hyde and attempted to strangle Laurel.
Despite this, she remained convinced of their unique bond and released him at the earliest opportunity. To her dismay, Tyler wanted nothing to do with her.
Transforming into Hyde once more, he chased Laurel down the corridors before fatally impaling her with his claws.
So, it's fair to say that Ricci won't be returning for the remaining episodes of Wednesday season two or its upcoming third series.
Wednesday is available for viewing on Netflix.
