Bollywood actor and producer Aamir Khan—known for his sharp script choices and powerful storytelling—is reportedly exploring a film project based on the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, which shook the country in May 2025. While there is no official confirmation yet, reports suggest Aamir is closely monitoring the case and may turn it into a gripping murder mystery thriller.
A Real-Life Tragedy That Gripped the NationThe case grabbed national headlines when Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed, was found dead in Meghalaya, just days after his marriage to Sonam Raghuvanshi on May 11. The couple had gone to Meghalaya for their honeymoon but later went missing. Raja’s body was discovered in a valley, and Sonam was arrested as the prime suspect in what is now being called the “Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder.”
Aamir Khan’s Interest in the StoryAccording to a Times Now source, Aamir is said to be deeply invested in understanding the minute details of the case, and has even discussed the story with his inner circle. It is unclear at this stage whether he intends to act in the film or simply produce it, but the idea is reportedly in its early development phase.
Aamir's Upcoming Projects“Aamir is known for his intense research and emotional depth in storytelling. A case like this—with betrayal, mystery, and real-life consequences—seems like the kind of story he’d want to tell,” a source close to the actor revealed.
This potential film would come after Aamir’s recent release Sitare Zameen Par, which earned praise for its heartfelt narrative. Meanwhile, he’s also said to be preparing for his long-anticipated dream project, Mahabharata, which has been in planning for years.
Film Still in Initial TalksNeither Aamir Khan nor his production house has made a formal announcement yet. Given the sensitive nature of the case, including ongoing legal proceedings, the project is likely in a research and concept development phase. The ethical and legal dimensions of dramatizing a real-life tragedy would also have to be carefully considered before production could begin.
