Student Assaulted: A serious ragging incident has been reported in a college hostel in Thirumangalam, Tamil Nadu. Senior students allegedly stripped a fellow student, paraded him around the hostel, and humiliated him. They also allegedly beat him with slippers. Based on a complaint from the victim's parents, police have registered a case against three students. The college administration has suspended the hostel warden pending an investigation.
A video of the incident is circulating on social media, showing some students forcibly stripping a fellow student and harassing him with taunts and derogatory language. Furthermore, senior students further humiliate the victim by hitting him with slippers on his private parts. The victim's screams and cries of pain are clearly audible in the video, highlighting the brutality of the incident. The victim's parents became aware of the incident after the video went public and immediately filed a complaint with the college administration and the police.
Such inhuman behavior under the pretext of raggingAccording to the police, the victim is a first-year student and lives in the hostel. Under the guise of ragging, the accused students subjected the student to inhumane behavior that was not only physically but also mentally damaging. It's also important to know that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has established strict rules against ragging, but reports of such incidents and lack of enforcement continue to emerge from across the country.
A case has been registered against three students.Police further stated that a case has been registered against three students based on a complaint from the victim's parents. Given the seriousness of the incident, the college administration took immediate action and suspended the hostel warden. According to the administration, the investigation revealed that the warden was negligent in his duties, which made this incident possible. The warden's suspension will remain in place until the investigation is complete. The college administration now fully intends to ensure that the safety of students is not threatened in any way.
