Rishab Shetty's "Kantara Chapter 1" has taken the Indian film industry by storm, surpassing ₹100 crore in box office collections within just two days of its release. The film, which released pan-India on October 2, 2025, in five languages—Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam—witnessed an overwhelming response from audiences across the country.
On its opening day, "Kantara Chapter 1" garnered a massive ₹61.85 crore net in India alone, with Kannada contributing ₹19.6 crore, Hindi ₹18.5 crore, Telugu ₹13 crore, Tamil ₹5.5 crore, and Malayalam ₹5.25 crore. The film’s worldwide collection stood at approximately ₹89 crore on day one.
Although the film’s earnings dropped slightly on the second day, amassing around ₹43.65 crore, the combined total in just two days reached ₹105.5 crore net across India. Trade experts anticipate the numbers to climb even higher over the weekend as the film continues to draw crowds.
The film, directed and led by Rishab Shetty, offers a unique cinematic experience blending traditional culture, nature, and folklore, and features strong performances by Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The engaging storyline, coupled with captivating music by Ajneesh Loknath and beautiful cinematography by Arvind Kashyap, has resonated deeply with audiences.
With a reported budget of ₹125 crore, "Kantara Chapter 1" is on track to recover its cost soon and is expected to soar into the ₹200 crore club shortly, cementing its status as one of the biggest hits of the year.
This phenomenal success not only highlights Rishab Shetty’s directorial and acting prowess but also enhances the reputation of Kannada cinema on a pan-India platform.
