Which god did Ravan kill? Ravan had pleased Mahadev through his penance and acquired such powers that he started giving orders to the gods. When a god did not obey his orders, he imprisoned him.
Why Ravan Imprisoned Shani Dev: Shani, who is called the judge, has two forms. First is the planet with seven rings in our solar system, and second is the god of justice in our mythological beliefs. Shani is very powerful in both these forms. As a planet, Shani is in the news on earth more than the Sun, while as a god, everyone looks for ways to avoid Shani's retrograde vision, his Dhaiyya and Sade Sati like Mahadasha.
Shani is the most powerful god of the Kali Yuga
The most appropriate date mentioned in the Sanatan scriptures is Shani Amavasya. That is, the Amavasya that falls on Saturday. There are only two such Amavasya dates in 2025. One was in May and the other on 23 August, Saturday. Darshan of Shanidev on this day is also considered very beneficial. In today's special report, we will take you to the only Shani temple on earth, whose idols are believed to be from the Treta Yuga.
Anyway, Shani is considered to be a powerful deity of Kaliyug. This can be a big reason behind people's faith. But on the occasion of Shani Amavasya, a lot of arrangements have to be made to handle the crowd in this small temple.
On 23 August, the second Shani Amavasya of the year, such a huge crowd gathered that all the previous records were broken. It is believed about the temple that the more unique the idol of Shani, the more amazing is his blessing. Wishes are fulfilled just by his darshan, but remember, Shani is not pleased with any worship or penance; rather, he is pleased or displeased with the deeds of the devotee. Actually, he is the god of truth and justice. One will get the result as per their deeds. He gives immediate results, bad for bad and good for good.
Ravana could not understand the power of Shani
The hill on which this temple is situated is a part of the 7 hills of central India. Scientific facts about it also tell that it is a part of the first landforms of the earth, billions of years older than the Himalayas. It is said that Lord Shani himself had performed penance of Lord Shiva here. He did penance so that he could regain his lost power after coming to earth.
According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shri Ram's ancestors brought Shani Dev to earth after rigorous penance. Shani's power was so great then that it was difficult to stand before him. But the arrogant Ravana could not understand his power. He trapped him in his illusion and took him to Lanka so that he could control the entire planetary cycle. But this move backfired.
This mythological story of the last phase of Treta Yuga becomes very interesting when Mahabali Hanuman enters it. Hanuman not only frees Shani from Ravana's captivity, but with this the end of Ravana also begins.
Shani Dev did not accept Ravan's condition
Ravana had a special intention behind imprisoning Saturn. Actually, he wanted to bring all the 9 planets in his desired position at the time of birth of his son Meghnad. For this, he not only acquired knowledge in astrology but also used his magical powers to imprison all the planets and change their position. This was so that his son Meghnad could be born invincible and immortal.
All the other planets accepted the fate of Ravana's imprisonment, but Saturn did not fulfill Ravana's condition. How Saturn's sight became retrograde on Ravana and how Hanuman freed him from Ravana's imprisonment and established him in the form of a statue 100 yojanas away from Lanka.
Shanidev was again established at the same Sapt Pahari (seven hills) of Morena from where Ravan had kidnapped him. This time, permanently. Because Shanidev's wrathful sight was on Ravan only till the time he was in his captivity. Shanidev himself had said this to Hanuman when he was wandering in Ravan's Lanka in search of Sita Maiyya.
Bajrang Bali freed Shani Dev
While burning Lanka, Hanuman Ji was thinking that Shani Dev's power was so much in Ravana's captivity that not a single trick of starting a fire was working in his presence, then how powerful he would be outside Ravana's captivity.
According to mythology, before burning Lanka, Hanuman pulled Shanidev out from under Ravana's throne and threw him 100 yojans away from there, due to which he fell on this hill of Morena. Shani, freed from Ravana's captivity, sits on the Sapt Pahari of Morena
It is believed that there is an ancient idol in this temple of Morena, which is made of the same stone that fell here from the sky like a meteorite. The idol of Shani Maharaj in the temple is in a tantric form in meditative attire, under which this idol is holding Yagyopaveet, a sapphire in the heart, a Rudraksha rosary, Sumirni in one hand, and a stick in the other hand.
The power place of self-proclaimed Shani Dev
This temple of Morena is mentioned in the Puranas, and looking at its importance, the Chakravarti kings of Sanatan got it renovated from time to time. King Vikramaditya first built the temple. The idol of Hanuman ji was installed in the temple along with Shani. In 1808, Daulat Rao Scindia expanded the temple. The idol of Shani was taken to Maharashtra's Shingnapur from Morena temple. Apart from this, idols of Shani were also taken to foreign countries from this temple.
Because of this temple of Morena, the entire hilly area is considered a Siddha hilly area. The priests here tell of a mythological belief behind this. Actually, after being thrown out of Lanka, Shanidev's feet were injured. His strength also got weakened. Then Hanuman ji gave him an assurance. Even today, people offer oil to Shanidev on every holy day here. It is said that with just this one remedy, Shani Dosh in the horoscope of the devotees is definitely eliminated or reduced.
Which is the second most powerful planet in the solar system?
Why is Saturn, the second largest planet after Jupiter, called the gem of the solar system? Saturn is considered the most important planet in the world of astrology. Science identified Saturn in the 17th century, but it is mentioned in our Vedic texts 5 thousand years ago, when the sages of Sanatan started writing the ancient texts of the Shruti tradition.
Before understanding the astrological law of Saturn, if you know the geographical position and structure of the planet named Saturn, then it will be easy to understand the mysterious story ahead. The largest planet in the solar system is Jupiter and the second largest planet is Saturn with 7 rings.
According to the picture of Saturn that has come out in scientific research so far, a circle of 7 rings is visible around it. It was first seen closely and captured in the camera by a spacecraft named Voyager in the 1980s. There are innumerable circles between these 7 rings, which are called the subtle rings of Saturn. There is so much empty space between them that the size of Saturn becomes so big that seven hundred and fifty planets like Earth can fit in it.
146 moons revolve around Saturn!
Saturn's 146 moons form such a mysterious circle 142 crore kilometers away from our Earth that its actual gravitational force can only be guessed. Only 53 moons out of 146 have been discovered. One of these moons, Titan, is bigger than the smallest planet in the solar system. Saturn's moon 'Titan' is bigger than Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun..!
We have told all these facts about Saturn first because these facts prove that, in physical form, Saturn is a part of the Sun. The same helium and hydrogen from which the Sun is made keep Saturn energetic in its gaseous state.
Why Saturn is called the 'gaseous giant'?
That is, Sun and Saturn are like father and son in physical form. A detailed explanation of the same is found in our astrology. In astrological calculations, the entire time cycle of Saturn is found in the form of a deity. Just like Sun became a deity for the earth, similarly, Shanidev got the divine form.
Although the Sun and Saturn are millions of kilometers away from the Earth. The Sun is 150 million kilometers away, and Saturn is about 142 million kilometers away from the Earth, but these two planets have a physical position. Not only astrologically, but scientifically also all the planets of the solar system are connected to the Sun and its gravitational force, hence it affects the entire living world.
Before science, our Vedas have a complete description of this power of the Sun, according to which the Sun is the eye of the whole world. This Vedic belief about the Sun is such that even science does not reject it, rather it accepts the eternal mystery of the power of the Sun before and after a situation like an eclipse or in other words, it accepts it as the eternal mystery of the power of the Sun.
