The Chhath festival, which used to be full of fervour with the voice of folk singer Sharda Sinha, has now gone silent forever. Famous singer Sharda Sinha passed away at the age of 72, causing a wave of mourning across the country. Especially the people celebrating Chhath Puja in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh are extremely saddened by this news.
Her last wish was to leave this world as a married woman
Sharda Sinha had told her son Anshuman about her last wish: that she wanted to leave this world as a married woman. But her wish could not be fulfilled. Her husband Brajkishore died about one and a half months ago, on 22 September, which shocked Sharda Sinha deeply. She told Anshuman that her last rites should be performed at the same place where her husband's last rites were performed.
Sharda Sinha was battling cancer
Sharda Sinha was suffering from a serious disease like cancer for the last five-six years and was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Her health had deteriorated for the last few days, due to which she was admitted to the hospital. She breathed her last on November 5, just as the Chhath festival began.
Last farewell at the Pink Ghat in Patna
As per the last wish of Sharda Sinha, her last rites will be performed at Gulabi Ghat in Patna, where her husband was also cremated.
