Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): In preparation for the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is fast-tracking the restoration of historic temples in Prayagraj. The renovation projects are nearing completion, according to Vivek Chaturvedi, the Additional Mela Officer for Mahakumbh.
The government is placing significant focus on completing these projects on time to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for devotees and tourists. In a recent review meeting held in Lucknow, CM Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasized the importance of meeting the deadlines for these crucial projects.
To expedite the process, three key departments—the Tourism Department, Smart City, and Prayagraj Development Authority—are working together. The Tourism Department is overseeing 15 temple corridor and renovation projects, with 14 expected to be completed by November 15 and the final one by November 30.
Notable projects nearing completion include the Bhardwaj Corridor, Mankameshwar Temple Corridor, Dwadash Madhav Temple, Padila Mahadev Temple, Alop Shankari Temple, and several others. Additionally, the Smart City initiative is focused on completing three major projects by mid-November: the Akshayavat Corridor, Saraswati Koop Corridor, and Patalpuri Corridor.
The Prayagraj Development Authority is also finalizing two important projects—the renovation of Nagvasuki Temple, which is set to be completed by November 30, and the Hanuman Temple Corridor, which will be ready by December 10.
With millions expected to bathe at the sacred Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge during Mahakumbh 2025, the government aims to ensure that the city’s temples and infrastructure are ready for the massive influx of devotees.
