Andre Agassi has hinted that his three-day training block with Holger Rune could become permanent after dropping a four-word comment on social media. The retired tennis legend took to the practice courts with the world No. 9 ahead of this week's Citi Open in Washington.
Rune later admitted he reached out to Agassi months ago, and their communications eventually materialised into the brief stint in Washington. The 22-year-old has already expressed his wish to work together again in the future, and it could be granted.
After Rune and Agassi linked up in the US capital, the Dane had a glowing review of their time together. Some of his quotes were shared on Instagram, and the post caught Agassi's attention.
"The future is bright," he wrote in the comments. It's not known whether the eight-time Grand Slam champion is referring to a future together, or Rune's future alone, but it's a promising statement.
Five-time title winner Rune will be hoping Agassi's advice pays off when he takes to the court in Washington for his opening match against Alexandre Muller.
"It was really a big pleasure. He's a very, very wise man. I've never met a guy who sees the game this way," the Dane, who works with coach Lars Christensen full-time, told the ATP of his time with Agassi.
"It was a really short period but definitely he gave me an insight of where he sees me in the future, where he sees me now and obviously there's a lot of things to improve.
"He helped me to get my focus and my eyes on the right things, together with my coach Lars. It was really cool to spend some days with him. He's a great man, so I would definitely like that [to work together in the future]."
Rune has been busy building his coaching team this summer, as fitness trainer Marco Panichi will reportedly join his camp during next month's Cincinnati Open.
Panichi spent years working with Novak Djokovic and was hired by world No. 1 Jannik Sinner last year, but they suddenly parted ways ahead of Wimbledon.
Rune's mum and manager, Aneke, has since told BT: "We know Marco very well and have always had a really good relationship with him. And he has always liked Holger. He is in a special class, so it is a huge capacity to have in the team."
