All Creatures Great and Small viewers were left in tears as the Aldersons faced an emotional moment when Jenny (portrayed by Imogen Clawson) accepted her spot at nursing college.
Anxious about her departure to London, Helen (Rachel Shenton) and their father Richard (Tony Pitts) struggled to accept that Jenny was maturing.
Though Jenny initially withdrew from the decision, she ultimately chose to take the leap and relocate to London by the episode's conclusion.
To maintain contact, Richard promised he would finally relent and install a telephone, bringing great joy to James (Nicholas Ralph).
Viewers might be curious whether Jenny has permanently departed the programme, and here's everything you need to understand.
Paramount Media Networks, Channel 5's parent organisation, informed Reach publications that Jenny continues as a central cast member.
They stated: "Jenny Alderson is currently studying in London but continues to be an important part of the All Creatures Great and Small family and a core character in the show."
Given this confirmation, she will likely appear on-screen again, with audiences eagerly anticipating her return in the forthcoming Christmas special.
Actress Rachel Shenton has previously discussed how remarkably her co-star Clawson has developed since the programme launched in 2020.
Clawson was 13 when she secured Jenny's role, and Shenton revealed to Masterpiece: "Oh, she's gorgeous, absolutely lovely. She's a joy to be around.
"She's so bright, and a pleasure on and off set, and to see her grow as an actor.
"And we hang out outside of work, go to Nando's sometimes, which is a sort of cheesy fast food place around here, and have a burger and chips.
"We catch up on life as well as work, and so we've got that relationship, which is really lovely."
Whilst Shenton's character draws inspiration from the real-life spouse of Alf Wight, Joan Danbury, there appears to be no suggestion that Jenny is rooted in an actual person.
All Creatures Great and Small airs on Channel 5 on Thursdays at 9pm
