Liverpool boss Arne Slot has 'outstanding' star ready to replace Jurgen Klopp favourite

The Dutchman was hugely impressed by third-choice shot-stopper Vitezslav Jaros' performance against in the Carabao Cup and will be far more at ease if Kelleher leaves due to the former's emergence.

Former boss Jurgen Klopp dubbed Kelleher the best second-choice goalkeeper in world football during his Anfield reign. But the 25-year-old has been open about his desire to earn regular football elsewhere.

Kelleher has excelled while . His performances are likely to pique the interest of other Premier League clubs.

Slot will not fear, though, as he has the 'outstanding' Jaros in reserve. The Czech is ready to step up and become No. 2 to Alisson and future first-choice Giorgi Mamardshvili, who has been identified as the Brazilian's long-term successor.

Jaros was excellent against Brighton, commanding a one-on-one scenario with Tariq Lamptey in the first half. He then tipped Simon Adingra's header onto the post to help Liverpool through with a 3-2 victory.

Slot called Jaros' display "outstanding" and added of the 23-year-old: "Everybody could see how important his saves were. I think the first big chance of the game was for them where he saved the one versus one. Then in the second half of course we all remember one or two saves he made as well

"But you also add to that how comfortable he was with the ball at his feet. Making the right choices - when to go short, when to clip the ball long towards the striker.

"And it helped as well the quality Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez brought in the build-up. So I liked that triangle today a lot in ball possession."

Jaros' performance followed a positive cameo in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over earlier this month. He replaced the injured Alisson and denied Eberechi Eze with a solid stop to preserve the three points.

His surprise breakthrough comes after claimed he asked Liverpool to let him leave in the summer - but he now has a chance to play a role that Klopp placed huge importance on.

"Alisson Becker is the best goalie in the world for me. There are other good goalkeepers out there but this goalie is absolutely insane. "But to be honest, for me, Caoimhin Kelleher is the best No. 2 goalie in the world as well," Klopp said in February 2022.

Jaros is a suitable successor for the second-choice goalkeeper role. He will save Liverpool vast sums of money on a Kelleher replacement.
