Liverpool have reportedly turned down an improved bid for Luis Diaz with Bayern Munich stepping up their pursuit of the Reds winger. He is said to be angling for a move elsewhere despite being tied down until 2027. Reports have suggested that Diaz has informed Liverpool chiefs that he wants to leave Anfield before the start of the new Premier League season.
He was linked with Barcelona earlier in the window but Bayern Munich now appear to have moved into pole position. Diaz is said to have already struck an agreement on personal terms with the German champions. Earlier this week, Bayern reportedly submitted an opening offer worth around £45million but it was swiftly rejected by Liverpool.
Now, it has been claimed that Bayern have gone back in for Diaz with an improved bid. They offered a new figure of £58.6m on Tuesday but Liverpool immediately turned down the proposal, according to The Athletic.
The Reds are said to value Diaz at closer to £86m, although senior figures are adamant that he will be going nowhere. He is reportedly viewed as a key part of Arne Slot's plans for the upcoming season and beyond.
Liverpool have reportedly made this clear to Bayern in spite of Diaz insisting that he wants to leave the club. Barcelona are said to have received a similar message from the Reds, although they are yet to firm up their interest with any official bids.

If the Merseyside giants refuse to sell Diaz, he will be able to depart on a free transfer when his contract expires. He issued an update on his situation while on international duty with Colombia last month.
He explained: "We are currently in contact with Liverpool because we are talking to clubs and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening. We're trying to arrange what's best for us.
"We're talking to clubs, it's normal in the market and we're looking at what's best for us. I'm waiting to see what happens. I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so.
"They've welcomed me very well from day one. If they give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I'll be happy. Now it's up to them."
Diaz was also linked with a potential move away from Liverpool last summer, prompting Slot to insist that he wanted to keep the winger around for as long as possible.
"There is a lot of speculation constantly in this country, that is clear for me, so it's not a surprise for me if I hear you saying that it is also for Luis Diaz," said the Liverpool boss.
"Is there any player they don't talk about? His future is with us because I like a lot what I've seen. I saw the same last season. He's had a big impact on Liverpool's seasons and I'm hoping that he has a big impact in the upcoming season as well."
