A major energy supplier is offering customers £300 off their bills if they make one change.
ScottishPower says customers who switch from a boiler to a heat pump will receive £300 energy bill credit to cut their bills through the winter months. And those who choose a Panasonic heat pump from ScottishPower will also receive a £1,000 discount. While heat pumps are currently more expensive to purchase and install than conventional boilers, they are significantly more energy-efficient and can be cheaper to run, potentially saving you hundreds of pounds per year on energy bills if you make the switch. They work by capturing heat from the air, ground, or water and then passing it through a heat exchanger, where energy is transferred to the water that flows through your radiators or underfloor heating, and to the water stored in hot water cylinders.
To try and entice more households to make the switch, ScottishPower and Panasonic have teamed up in a bid to make the adoption of greener technology in homes more affordable.
The heat pump bundle includes a heat pump optimiser and smart radiator thermostat from ScottishPower's partner, tado°, which enables heating to be managed remotely, and room by room, leading to energy savings of up to 22% on average. To complete the package, Panasonic is offering a £100 voucher redeemable for use against products purchased via its online store.
The collaboration aims to make it easier for homeowners to invest in heat pumps while helping them to reduce their carbon footprint and potentially lower their energy bills over the long term.
Rozlyn Brennan, Smart Solutions Director for ScottishPower's Customer Business, said: "We know that a significant proportion of the UK's carbon emissions come from domestic housing, and that measures like heat pumps and solar panels are practical solutions in reducing this.
"These more energy efficient solutions can have a positive impact on how we each run our home while also supporting the move to a net zero country."
"We're proud to partner with Panasonic to make low-carbon heating more accessible and affordable for our customers. This limited time offer is a great opportunity for households to upgrade their heating systems while enjoying significant savings."
UK Government figures show a significant increase in interest in England and Wales following the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's decision to raise the value of the heat pump grant under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme to £7,500. This 50% increase in funding led to over 2,000 applications for heat pump grants in January 2024 - an increase of nearly 39% compared to the same period the previous year.
In Scotland, additional support is available through Scottish Government schemes such as Home Energy Scotland, which offers grants and interest-free loans to help households transition to low-carbon heating.
Those keen to make the shift from a conventional boiler to a heat pump can bag the offer from ScottishPower and Panasonic from now until February 27, 2026.
Paul Taylor, Head of Renewable Heating for Panasonic UK, added: "We're delighted to launch this promotion in partnership with Scottish Power, making it easier and more affordable for households to upgrade to low-carbon heating.
"By combining generous discounts with ongoing energy savings, this initiative not only helps customers reduce their bills but also supports the UK's transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future."
