A huge 6.9 magnitude earthquake has struck in the Philippines as local reports warn of a Tsunami threat.

The earthquake was detected near Bogo City, Cebu, and felt in Villaba and Leyte. Its epicentre was identified 10 kilometres west northwest of Palompon.

Reports of structural damage to buildings are emerging, as local emergency services respond to the developing situation.
