Our readers have the opportunity to secure a mobile phone plan for less than £5 with an exclusive offer available this weekend. The deal is provided by Talkmobile, a network backed by Vodafone, which is offering its 40GB SIM only plan for £4.87.

Usually, this 12-month contract with 40GB of data and unlimited minutes and texts would cost £6.95 per month. However, with this special offer, new customers can get a free £25 gift card upon joining, effectively bringing the monthly cost down to £4.87.

The voucher can be spent at several major retailers such as Amazon, Sainsbury's, Habitat, Tu and Argos. Time is running out to secure this deal before it ends at 11.59pm on Monday, August 25.

After purchasing the Talkmobile 40GB SIM and activating the contract, customers can claim their £25 gift card here. Talkmobile says it provides coverage for 99% of the UK population, with its customers having automatic access to both the Vodafone and Three networks for optimal coverage.

The plan also includes EU roaming in 47 countries at no additional charge, allowing customers to use their UK allowance of minutes, texts and data without incurring extra fees, subject to a 5GB fair use policy. The plan provides both 4G and 5G data speeds on all compatible devices including Apple iPhones, Samsung, Google Pixel and more, reports Wales Online.

The offer surpasses major providers such as Sky Mobile, which provides 100MB of data with its own £5GB SIM package. Elsewhere, giffgaff recently cut £180 from its 'unlimited everything' package, providing unlimited data, calls and texts for £15, but this option runs for 18 months.

Announcing the deal, Sarah Boyle, Head of Operations at Talkmobile, stated: "We're thrilled to be able to offer this deal exclusively to readers of Reach websites."

Talkmobile has won nine customer care rewards since 2023 and boasts an impressive 4.7-star rating on Trustpilot. Customers have commended the brand's 'excellent' service and 'cheaper' mobile packages.

One customer said: "Have used this provider for a year now, have had excellent service from advisor, answer phone promptly. Mobile phone usage has been excellent and the packages are way cheaper than the usual ones. Just ordered a second sim."

Another said: "I changed to Talk Mobile and I'm really happy with the service. It's great to have free EU roaming [and] I have a 5G signal in my home, which I didn't have before, so I'm guessing the signal is much stronger. On the rare occasions I've had to call customer services, it's been a joy to speak to a member of staff."

Despite their five-star review, this Talkmobile user highlighted a potential drawback, saying: "Everything is really simple, great prices and the customer service is great. Only downside is they piggyback off of Vodafone's network so sometimes coverage can be poor but I can't blame them for that."

Meanwhile, this glowing review said: "I wish all mobile providers would be so helpful as Talkmobile. They sorted my problem out in no time, so polite and knowledgeable."
