
The countries with the busiest roads in the world have been revealed. Global car rental comparison site DiscoverCars.com carried out new research into the busiest roads around the world.
A total of 12,015 drivers ranked how busy the roads of the locations they visited were, and these scores were used to rank the top locations. Albaniais in first place with 7.14 points out of 10. The capital, Tirana, can get very busy at peak times, and parking restrictions may add to the commotion.
In a close second, with 7.12 points, is Montenegro. This location is known to have some heavy traffic in its network of tunnel roads, but the roads are reportedly kept in great condition. Moroccocomes in third with a score of 6.91. Roads, especially between major cities like Casablanca and Marrakech, can become very busy during peak times. However, the intense traffic dies down when driving to coastal cities such as Essaouira.

In fourth place is Germany with a score of 6.74. Germany's well-known autobahn network can get busy in some areas, and there is no enforced speed limit in some parts.
Turkey is in fifth place, scoring 6.71. The roads in Istanbul are known to get busy during peak travel times, but things quieten down if you drive towards the southern coastal cities.
Aleksandrs Buraks, head of growth at DiscoverCars.com, said: "We wanted to find out which locations in the world have some of the most crowded roads.
"If you're planning to rent a car abroad, you may be researching what to expect before your trip, including how busy some areas could get. The last thing you want on holiday is to be stuck in standstill traffic.
"Our research showed some of the busiest locations to drive through, with two Balkan countries taking the top spots. Albania and Montenegro are fast becoming more and more popular with tourists, and so this may mean more cars on the road.
"Both of these countries along the Adriatic coastline have their busy roads, but make up for it with stunning scenery and attractions for locals and tourists alike to enjoy.
"If you're planning a trip to the locations found in our top 20 ranking, you may want to plan ahead before you set off to try and avoid getting stuck in traffic jams."
