The pretty European island that's better than the Maldives and just 2.5 hours from UK

Sardinia, the second-largest island after Sicily, is often dubbed the Maldives of Europe thanks to its stunning coastline.

Two of its beaches even made it onto the "World's 50 list for 2024, curated by over 1,000 travel professionals.

But with its reputation comes consequences: the incredibly beautiful Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) is known for having a price tag to match its beauty.

However, book yourself a trip outside peak season when the weather is still glorious, and you could spend a lot less than you think.
