The Thursday Murder Club is coming to Netflix and cinemas soon along with a number of other movies, and the film is an adaptation of Richard Osman's 2020 novel of the same name.
Directed by Chris Columbus from a screenplay by Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcote, it boasts a star-studded cast with the likes of Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
The story follows a group of elderly amateur sleuths who attempt to solve a murder, while residing at Coopers Chase, a retirement village.
In the books, Coopers Chase is the English county of Kent, and the trailer shows Elizabeth Best (played by Helen Mirren) welcoming new residents.
Viewers then see a stunning view of a huge stately home surrounded by lush countryside, but they were left confused.
For those who have read the books, they envisioned the retirement village to be a lot more modern, and perhaps spread across various lodges.
@chrisofnottingham said: "Coopers Chase is a bit more stately than I was expecting!"
@abithorn replied: "That's the word I was thinking of. I imagined it to be more modern and beige."
@nathjones77 shared: "Haha yes, thought the same. Movies need nice backgrounds though. I was expecting more modern and on a hill."
@YTguySmithy-lk6go pointed out how as a Netflix production, it may need to "have broad international appeal".
They added: "If it were made by the BBC it would probably be closer to the book. And to be fair to Netflix, book to film adaptations do make changes. It's common for a film adaptation to make changes to the plot, setting etc."
Some viewers admired the stunnng location, with @HoojipIsHere saying: "Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully-shot this looks?"
@gilliansmith8357 added: "I can't wait. It might not be how I imagined the setting etc, but it's going to be fabulous."
Principal photography began in June 2024, at Shepperton Studios in Surrey.
However, other locations included Beaconsfield, a market town in Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire.
St Mark's Church in Theale, West Berkshire, within the Englefield Estate has also been cited as a main filming location.
Little Missenden in Buckinghamshire and Gaddesden Place in Hertfordshire were also used as locations.
The Thursday Murder Club cast and crew were spotted in Little Missenden with filming taking place at various hotspots, including The Red Lion Pub.
As for Gaddesden Place, it was used for the interior scenes for Coopers Chase.
The Thursday Murder Club premieres on Netflix on August 28, with a restricted cinema screening from August 22.
