A woman in her 20s has allegedly been raped on a London high street by a man in his 30s who has since been charged. The alleged horrific incident is said to have taken place on Merton High Street, south Wimbledon, during the early hours of August 23, with officers called to the scene around 3.30am.
Forensic teams had been seen working in the area over the last few days, prior to any arrests being made. Tomas Hunt, 35, of Ruxley Close, Sidcup, has since been arrested and charged with rape.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 26.
A Met Police spokesperson: "A man has been charged with the rape of a woman in her 20s following an incident which took place on Merton High Street at around 03:30hrs on Saturday, 23 August.
"Tomas Hunt, 35, of Ruxley Close, Sidcup, was arrested on Sunday, 24 August and has now been charged with rape.
"He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 26 August.
"The victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers."
