Mumbai: Sharad Pawar's grand-nephew and senior leader of his party Rohit Pawar has hinted at Ajit Pawar's homecoming in the future. In an exclusive conversation with Times Now, Rohit Pawar said that the party may open its door for his uncle Ajit Pawar if he wants to rejoin the party. "These elections we are fighting separately but can't tell what will happen in the future. If Ajit dada comes back to us without the BJP, then the family might take him back," Rohit said.Rohit, who is an MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed constituency, was recently referred to the future of Maharashtra politics by party chief and veteran leader Sharad Pawar. The Pawar scion also hit out at the BJP claiming that the national party is aiming to finish off local allies like the Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP. "Amit Shah recently mentioned how they will go solo in 2029. This is a clear indication to CM Shinde and Ajit dada. The BJP wants to finish off their local allies just like they did it in Haryana. I also feel in these elections, the BJP will field independent candidates against Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar's party to reduce the number of allies," Rohit said.Rohit also said that he will be filing the nominations on October 28th from Karjat-Jamkhed constituency. His likely rival will be former Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Ram Shinde.
In July, 2023, Ajit Pawar, feeling sidelined, walked out of then united Nationalist Congress Party along with several other party leaders and joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance government in Maharashtra. The move to ally with the BJP and Sena, 'natural Hintutva allies', was seen as a strategic gamble. But his gamble has not yielded the expected results. In the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar's faction managed to secure only one out of the four seats it contested, a stark contrast to the eight seats won by Sharad Pawar's NCP.The poor show has dwindled his faction's influence within the Mahayuti alliance.#MaharashtraAssemblyElections2024
