Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has said that losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow and this defeat calls for introspection, as India suffered the humiliation of a Test series whitewash on Sunday. The former Indian cricketer, who has rarely been seen analysing India's defeats with such sharpness, was also at his critical best after the Indian team reduced itself to a sorry state. Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Harbhajan Singh called for 'introspection' and requested that team management stop 'needless experimentation' in the test format and start playing on better tracks.India faced a humiliating 0-3 whitewash at home for the first time after suffering a 25-run loss in the third Test against a New Zealand team that arrived in Bengaluru after a 0-2 defeat to Sri Lanka."Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow and it calls for introspection. Was it lack of preparation, was it poor shot selection, or was it lack of match practice," Tendulkar tweeted.
Set a target of 147 on a crumbling Wankhede track, India lasted just 29.1 overs to be bowled out for a paltry 121, making it the lowest target to be defended against India at home. Rishabh Pant (64), who struck half-centuries in both innings, was the sole batter to show some fight, while Shubman Gill (90) was the top-scorer in India's first innings. Both the youngsters were praised by Tendulkar, even as the batting great lauded New Zealand for their brilliant show in India."@ShubmanGill showed resilience in the first innings and @RishabhPant17 was brilliant in both innings -- his footwork made a challenging surface look like a different one altogether. He was simply superb," Tendulkar said. The crushing blow not just toppled India from the top of the World Test Championship standings but exposed major cracks in their batting against spin as New Zealand spinners bagged 37 out of 57 Indian wickets.Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow, and it calls for introspection.
