Babil Khan recently returned to the screen with 'Logout', a cyber thriller drama on OTT that explores the dark side of the digital world and its impact on people’s lives.

In a candid revelation, Babil shared that his parents didn’t want him to grow up in a digital environment. As a result, he used a basic ‘dabba phone’ (non-smartphone) until he was 22 years old.


Babil opens up about his unique childhood

In a recent interview with Filmibeat, Babil Khan, son of Irrfan Khan and Sutapa Sikdar, shared that he didn’t have a typical childhood. Babil revealed that his parents were firm about not raising him in a digital world. He also attended an alternative school where no plastic was allowed, and everything was made of wood.


Unlike today’s tech-savvy youth, Babil Khan used a basic phone until he was 22. He shared, “I had a dabba phone till I was 21 or 22. So all of this—social media, the digital world—it’s very new to me.”

Learning about the digital world through 'Logout'

Though Babil isn’t interested in social media and prefers to stay away from the digital world, he admitted that working on Logout taught him a lot about the social world.

He said, “Use it for creativity instead of relying on it for your self-worth.” He explained that this perspective came from his journey and made him reflect on how social media should be approached.

He talked about his role in Amit Golani’s film, saying that he always chooses characters that are different. He explained that he believes everyone has different shades within them, so he tries to play characters that are not like him, bringing them to life on screen.
