Actor Sikander Kher recently opened up about his unique relationship with both his biological and stepfather in a candid conversation. The son of veteran actress and MP Kirron Kher, Sikander was born to Kirron and businessman Gautam Berry but was raised alongside actor Anupam Kher after his mother remarried. Reflecting on his upbringing, Sikander described having two father figures in his life but acknowledged that neither played a consistently active role during his formative years.
In a conversation with the YouTube channel Tape A Tale, Sikander stated that he had two fathers—his biological father and his father for life. “Gautam is my biological father, who passed away 11 years ago, and Anupam Papa is Anupam Papa, who has been my father forever,” he shared.
Kirron and Gautam separated when Sikander was young, and he began living with his mother and Anupam, whom he now refers to as his lifelong father. However, Anupam’s rising career in the film industry meant he was often away from home. “I have had two fathers, but neither was around that much because they were both busy. When my mum and dad got divorced, I stayed with my mum and my other dad, but my other dad was becoming an actor, and his career was flourishing, so he was mostly out of the house,” Sikander explained.
He also touched upon the complex dynamics shared between fathers and sons, remarking, “Fathers and sons are hectic.”

During the interview, Sikander was asked about the wisdom he has received from Anupam over the years. One piece of advice that stood out to him was to never fear setbacks. He also shared another impactful lesson from the actor: “‘Bheega hua aadmi barish se nahi darta’ (A drenched man does not fear the rain)—this is such an amazing thing that I have learnt from him.”
When the conversation turned towards their emotional connection, Sikander admitted that their relationship does not rely on overt displays of affection but instead thrives on mutual understanding and space. He described their ability to give each other space as their love language. He further elaborated on how this balance allows them to support one another without interfering in each other’s lives.
On the work front, Sikander Kher was last seen in 'Monkey Man', the Hollywood action film directed by Dev Patel. He also featured in the Prime Video series 'Citadel: Honey Bunny.'
