In a country where women’s safety is often a headline for wrong reasons, a simple and unfiltered video from Ayodhya is making headlines for all the right reasons. The clip doesn’t show a celebrity or a government official but an 18-year-old delivery agent, from a quick delivery platform telling that she feels completely safe working solo night shifts in the temple city.
Recently, a video went viral showing an 18-year-old delivery agent from Ayodhya. It was captured and shared by a user named Deep on Instagram. The clip shows the young woman responding with clarity and confidence when asked about her experience working late hours in the city.
“She works at midnight in Ayodhya. She delivers Blinkit orders alone, even at 12 am. She is just 18,” says the man filming, before asking her directly about safety while working night shifts.
Without missing a beat, she replies, "There is no fear of any sort of safety issues here at all. Women's safety is not an issue in Ayodhya. There are police vans patrolling every 100 metres. I reach home easily. Even my parents have stopped worrying."
Her response reflects her simplicity and she doesn’t seem to be exaggerating or dismissing reality, just stating what she sees and experiences and what she sees is a city that has changed significantly.
She adds, "Earlier, this road used to be deserted, the ghats didn't feel safe. But it's the complete opposite now. I work on the same route, and it's nothing like it used to be."
Ayodhya has recently seen infrastructural development, particularly in the lead-up to the Ram Mandir inauguration in January 2024. With crores of pilgrims expected, the city was upgraded to handle the influx. A new airport was inaugurated, and the railway station received a modern facelift. Apart from that surveillance and police presence were significantly increased.
The result of the infrastructural moderation is not just an aesthetically improved city, but one where residents are beginning to feel a sense of ease and protection. What makes the video stand out is its authenticity is that it doesn’t come from a press release or an official, but from a young working woman who lives the reality every day.
