Shah Rukh Khan's rumoured MCU debut sparks Doctor Doom fan theory so WILD it may come true

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be no stranger to surprise reveals, but the latest rumour swirling around Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has sent fans into a frenzy. The buzz around the Bollywood superstar's alleged involvement in an upcoming project has sparked a Doctor Doom theory so wild, that fans think it just might come true.

The speculation began after a popular Marvel fan account claimed that Khan could be making his MCU debut in an upcoming film. However, it clarified that he will not be seen in 'Avengers: Doomsday' which sees Robert Downey Jr returning to the MCU, but this time, not as Iron Man, but as the villain, Doctor Doom. While there’s been no official confirmation, the rumour ignited a viral fan theory suggesting that SRK won’t just be appearing in the film and that he might actually be playing the "real Doctor Doom."

The theory claims that while Robert Downey Jr. is slated to return as the primary antagonist Doctor Victor Von Doom, his version of Doom could be a decoy — with Shah Rukh revealed as the mastermind villain pulling the strings in a climactic twist. The idea, which has since gone viral on social media, would position Khan as the secret power behind the chaos set to unfold in the upcoming Avengers film that will bring together the might of the entire MCU to take down the villain. It's no secret that the upcoming film will bring together the Avengers with the X-Men, Fantastic Four and even members of the Thunderbolts and demi-gods like Thor and Loki.

Fuel was further added to the theory by a fan who pointed out a cultural connection between Doom’s Romani heritage and how SRK could fit the bill. “Look, I know Doom is supposed to be Romani,” the post read, “but if we’re looking at the historical roots of the Romani people, they did come from India. So if Marvel truly couldn’t cast a Romani actor, Shah Rukh Khan would be closer than anyone else.”

Others also noted similar features between the two actors, thus fuelling speculation that "RDJ is just a bait and switch, this guy is gonna be the real Doctor Doom."

While Khan’s official involvement with the MCU remains unconfirmed, it’s worth noting he already exists in the Marvel Universe — as himself. In the Ms. Marvel web series, teenage superhero Kamala Khan openly professes her admiration for Shah Rukh and his iconic romantic films, further fuelling the fan-crossover fantasy.

Currently, the actor is busy filming King, a home production in which he stars alongside his daughter Suhana Khan and long-time friend Abhishek Bachchan.

With Avengers: Doomsday now in production and Fantastic Four set to hit screens this summer, all eyes will be on Marvel Studios to see whether this fan-fuelled rumour turns into yet another jaw-dropping MCU moment.
