NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi warned the Bharatiya Janata Party of a new expose on alleged " vote chori " claims, vowing to drop a " hydrogen bomb " this time after Mahadevpura's "atom bomb." BJP hit back at the Congress leader calling him an "irresponsible" LoP for making such claims.
Speaking at the concluding event of his ' Voter Adhikar Yatra ' in Patna on Monday, the Congress leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he would not be able to "show his face to people after we bring hydrogen bomb of 'vote chori'."
The Congress leader, however, did not reveal which constituency he would target this time.
"I want to tell the BJP people. Have you heard of anything bigger than an atom bomb, it is a hydrogen bomb. BJP people, be ready, a hydrogen bomb is coming. People are soon going to find out the reality of vote chori," he said.
"In the coming time, I am guaranteeing you that after the hydrogen bomb (comes), Narendra Modi ji will not be able to show his face to the country," he added.
He went on to claim that even in China and the US, people were demanding PM Modi to step down from the post over "vote chori" allegations.
"Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod, Bihar mein naya naara chala hai (There is a new slogan in Bihar), 'Vote chor, gaddi chhodd'...Even in China and the US, people are saying 'Vote chor, gaddi Chhodd'" Rahul told ANI.
Cautioning the youth of the poll-bound Bihar, he said, "I want to tell the youth of Bihar, vote chori means 'chori of rights, chori of democracy, chori of employment'. They will take away your ration card and other rights."
He alleged that votes were “stolen” in the Maharashtra assembly elections and claimed his party had exposed evidence of similar “vote chori” in the Mahadevapura assembly segment of Karnataka’s Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat.
'How atom, hydrogen bomb related to polls?'
Questioning the basis of Rahul's claims, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Whenever I listen to Rahul Gandhi, inside or outside the Parliament, it takes time to understand what he is trying to say. Today he has said, 'maine atom bomb phoda hai ab mai hydrogen bomb phodunga'... How are the atom bomb and the hydrogen bomb related to the elections?"
"Why is Rahul Gandhi demeaning himself as the Leader of Opposition... The nation should understand, Rahul Gandhi is irresponsible," he added.
Targeting the opposition parties for opposing the SIR, he said, "Thanks to the Election Commission that booths are not captured now in Bihar... They are deeply pained by the fact that they cannot capture booths now, which is why they demand ballot paper time and again... Their whole agitation against the Election Commission and the SIR is centred around 'give us the right and might to capture booths, tear away ballot papers, and let infiltrators vote'."
Rahul's remarks came after the INDIA bloc allies concluded the 1,300-km ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra,’ which traversed 110 assembly constituencies across 25 districts in Bihar ahead of the upcoming state elections. The march, which began on August 17 from Sasaram, was aimed at highlighting alleged violations of voting rights through the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
